Well so much for....

using this site as a "journal" of sorts ;) I haven't posted since before Christmas!! :)

I had been so busy with my son and his extra school activities, wow. This was his first year in DI-destination imagination. A very challenging but fun activity for young thinker . The students are posed a problem and must come up with a solution, skit, props, costumes, etc....all child led/no help from adults except driving to the store for supplies and guidance in the rules. Some of the high school teams have been together since elementary and were very impressive in what they could accomplish. Their group won 3rd place-not too bad for a first time group of 3rd graders ;) Along with scouts and the start of baseball-for a few weeks it was pretty hectic. But for now, it is back to normal.

...here he is hard at work on one of the set pieces...

Our garden is once again planted, all is doing well as long as I can ward off those pesky squash bugs. Hate those. Nothing can ruin your day like a squash bug. In a matter of 8 hours (or less) a single bug can take down an entire 4 ft tall squash plant as if someone went out and sat on it. I do not use any sprays, chemicals, or anything on my garden-but this year....they better watch it :)

I have done quite a few projects, some of wich I hope to add tonight :) As we have no practice, no game, no nothin' :)

update on the garden

This year is not so great in the garden because of Ike, but I do have quite a few plants. There is lots of spinach, some broccoli,, greens, lots of onions, cauliflower-which I never have had actually make cauliflower :)
The onions in this picture where grown from seed. Which if you have ever grown them from seed-they take a long, long time :) These were started last winter :)

The best day of scouts

for my son. He loves scouts and all that they do, but this was his big day he had been waiting for. He finally earned his whittling chip card :)

This is a card I made for our monthly meeting in november. I like the challenges, gives me a reason to use my stuff and get more :)

Just a quick post for those that were asking about the acetate. I actually do not use the acetate that they sell for transparencies or in the drafting section because it is much thinner. I use Stencil Blank in the stencil section :) The link will take you to their website-but I get mine at HL. It is nicer and thicker (mylar-I think) and holds up really well to folding and scoring.

It is still a little too hot here to plant, so my garden still sits empty. So I thought I would post a picture of my son, who willingly still goes shopping with mamma, but on his own terms now :)

I sure wish the craft stores had bigger baskets so he could shop with me longer :)

Halloween Goodie Boxes

I made a few halloween treat boxes for a few of my son's friends. They were easy to make and fun to do :) The clear part is folded acetate with box for the top and bottom. I used Stampin Up's (now retired) Bitty Boo's and the words are from Deer Friends, but they would be really cute with the current "batty for you" set. I just do not have that one...yet :)
Candy corn or wrapped candies would be cute-I used small "fun size" chocolates.
