replanting the

front bed! We moved to an older house a few years back and it seems that we have been in a never ending state of "remodeling". The house is not that old, but older than our previous -built in the early 80's but decorated in a very 70's fashion :) Think avocado, avocado, and more avocado mixed in with a bit of harvest gold and paneling :) Which I happen to like avocados- just not on my walls, sink, shower.... etc. We have done quite a bit on the inside, but still working on a bedroom, front room and finishing touches.

Back to the front garden. We have not added any shrubbery, just a few perennials to add color. But finally we have new shrubs! I am in the process of diggin' them in and it is such nice weather today.

I hope to get some before and after shots of what everything looks like.

Also, it is time now for getting the winter garden together. Along with some various seeds, I have some cabbage, tomato, and some greens to plunk in the dirt :)

Just waiting for a bit cooler weather to add some more variety.

Gift Card Holder

I was asked by a few people how to make this gift card holder,so here it is. I got this wonderful idea from my demo Scrappermom_1 :) She is very talented and creative :)
I hope your enjoy! They make wonderful birthday gift card holders too!

First, start of with a 1/4 sheet of 8X11 cardstock. You can get 4 holders out of 1 sheet.

I then Score that sheet at 2 1/2in and again 5inches, turn it on its side and score one edge at 1/4 in. It should look like this :)

You will then need to trim of the section of cardstock where both of your score lines meet.

Turn your paper over and turn up the remaining scored edges.

Trim off a little piece of the smaller edge, on the inside, so that it will fold flat. -see pic





Fold card over in the middle following middle score line and adhere your edges, it takes just a bit to line them up correctly, this is your opening :)

Take a 1 inch circle punch and cut your edge! This is where you would pull out your gift card.(for me it works through 2 layers-but do as you usually do-you can punch the circles before you put the piece together-but it might be hard to line them up)


For my tag-I used my circle punch-but you can use your tag punch too. I just line them up and punch the half circle off. Sometimes i do have to trim the edges a bit.
Now you can decorate your card anyway you would like. To add the ribbons, I punched a few holes in the tag(not through the cardholder) before I stuck it down.Thanks for stopping by :)

One of my sons favorite sets, and his first to pick to make birthday cards for friends. So whenever we go to a party-we give the same card. Hopefully we have not given the same card twice :)

Why I did not sell our Kitchen...

Absolute Joy...I hung the moon that day. (which as he gets older does not happen quite as often)

My little scientist came home from school to see his little tikes art table transformed into his very own "laboratory" complete with labeled shelves and lab equipment.

He then decided to add his kitchen into the mix. He cleaned out all the play food and took my label maker and proceeded to finish his laboratory.

He has had this kitchen since he was two-and mommy could not just "give" it away, so we have shuffled this thing about the house and through 2 moves. But this made it all worth those many years of moving it.

I do not recall ever getting so many love yous and hugs.

...well, except for the time that I bought a certain cocoa-licous cereal, I was immediately attacked on isle 3 by the happiest 8 year old on the planet. "Mommy, mommy, you are the best mommy ever, I love you so, so, so, much!" No, apparently we do not buy cereal often enough and I am positive that some of the shoppers that day thought that I must starve my little string bean of a child--for one to be so excited about cereal-- and that this would surely be his only meal of the day.

First crafty post.

I had hoped to use this post to keep track of my crafty little projects and as sort of a journal about our family happenings. I tend to like to journal, but just never seem to get the chance-just like my scrapbooking :)

Here is my first crafty sort of post. I stamped this one up with the Doodle This set from SU! Since I do not yet have that much of SU!s papers I made this one with a piece of vintage DSP from Creative Memories(which is what I mostly have on hand right now). Sponged the edges with some chocolate chip and added some ribbon and a scallop under the cut out flower from the doodle this set. You can hardly see, but there is dazzling diamonds on the flower :)

Waiting...

For the pool to fill :) We decided to get another pool again this year. We had not had one in the past two summers so Jacob was eager to swim and he wanted to wait on the stairs to get in.

He had a while to go... as the top of the pool had to get to the first step by his feet :)
